What’s it about?
If you are creating content for social media, there’s no getting away from it: Video is a must-have skill. But creating video is hard, right?
Wrong. Video styles, techniques and tastes are changing. The most effective video for social media is simple, vertical, authentic and created on mobile. And thanks to some great apps, creating video in a variety of formats is faster than ever.
With a little know-how and confidence, content creators from any background can get their message across with video. That’s what this hands-on training, using your own mobile and a free editing app, is all about.
You’ll learn the key skills needed to shoot, edit and share attention-grabbing short-form video. The focus is on Reels, Stories and TikTok-style vertical video explainers, adding text, subtitles, music.
A PDF Toolkit with tips and links will be shared on the day.
Who’s it for?
Content creators and those involved with managing social media for their organisation. No previous video experience required.
What will I learn?
Record and edit selfie-style interviews, understanding shot framing, background, audio and lighting, ready for upload to social media. (The approach can also be used for face-to-face interviews).
Add titles, subtitles, music and transitions to your video.
Create explainers using a series of images and/or video clips plus titles or voiceover.
Convert and export video in horizontal, square and vertical formats.
What equipment will I need?
A fully-charged iPhone or Android smartphone.
Earbuds or headphones recommended, but not essential.
The CapCut video editing app, installed BEFORE the workshop. Links on the CapCut website: capcut.com/tools/video-editing-app.
Participants are advised to update system software and apps before the workshop. You will need space on your device to record video.
