Trainer – Dan Mason
What’s it about?
It’s impossible to avoid the hype surrounding AI. With so many ethical concerns over AI, should journalists and content creators embrace it or avoid it?
Over an hour, we’ll explore what a few free AI tools can – and can’t – do. Aimed at journalists and creators with limited knowledge of AI, the session will start with a brief overview, then follow simple practices for harnessing generative AI to support storytelling, including the use of prompts. In this session we will showcase an AI search tool called Perplexity, which has gained a reputation for transparency and accuracy.
Important note for participants: This workshop is not intended as a forum for debate on AI and does not imply support for the use of AI. The aim is to encourage individual knowledge to help put you in the driving seat.
Who’s it for?
Journalists, content creators and communication professionals from any background.
What equipment will I need?
A laptop or desktop computer with reliable internet connection and access to Zoom. It is not essential, but participants are welcome to create a free account with Perplexity at perplexity.ai (using your Google account is quick and easy) and, optionally, download the free Perplexity app for iOS and Android.
