Trainer: SA Mathieson
Data visualisations such as graphs and maps are a powerful way to communicate and tell stories with data. They can easily be created by spreadsheet software and online services, although following a few basic rules and guidelines can lead to much better results.
This one-hour course will cover the first things you need to know:
· How to create simple graphs within spreadsheet software
· The rules on what kinds of graph to use for specific types of data (such as when not to use a line graph)
· Going further with specialist online services such as Datawrapper
Some of the techniques will be demonstrated within Google Sheets (if you have a Google account, you probably already have this at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/) and there will be the opportunity to try them during the session, but this isn’t required.
