Trainer – Catrin Rogers
Are you thinking of moving into a comms, PR or press officer role? Are you new to a press or PR job and finding your feet? Or are you running a one-person comms team but lacking confidence or support?
If you’re keen to know more about what a comms role involves and ensure you have all the building blocks in place to make it successful, then this is the course for you. Discover what makes up a typical comms job, from how to run a press campaign, or write a press release, to hosting press events or any of the myriad things that come as part of a being a press/ PR officer. You’ll learn about essential GDPR rules, funding obligations, storing and archiving digital material, compiling press cuttings, and how to cope in a comms crisis.
The course is suitable for journalists, comms officers, PRs and anyone looking to understand the ins and outs of the comms world. All experience levels are welcome.
About the trainer
Catrin Rogers is a bilingual Communications Consultant, working mostly in the arts.
She trained as a journalist and worked in the media for eight years before turning to arts PR, where she has worked for the past 15 years. She started as Press & PR Manager at National Theatre Wales for 10 years, then Communications Manager, later Senior Communications Manager at Wales Millennium Centre. As a freelancer, she has managed press and communications campaigns for Arts Council of Wales, Sherman Theatre, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, Llenyddiaeth Cymru/Literature Wales, Cwmni Dawns Cenedlaethol Cymru/National Dance Company Wales, S4C and many more.
Catrin is also a volunteer student counsellor for Mind Cymru and is a registered student member of the British Association of Counselling Practitioners.
