Trainer SA Mathieson
Winning work as a freelancer is a skill in its own right. If you find it a challenge to sell yourself, or make sure you get the best rates for the job, then this is the course for you.
Freelancers often find themselves trying to win work then negotiate its terms. It can be difficult to sell yourself, a skill that does not come naturally to many people. Winning work involves pitching ideas effectively, explaining why you are the right person to produce something and closing the sale. Negotiating requires knowledge of the market, an ability to see things from a commissioner’s point of view and a willingness to haggle.
This half-day course will include the following:
· Techniques for finding new clients and researching what they want from freelancers.
· What to include in a pitch email.
· How to research a realistic rate for the job.
· Closing negotiations in ways that mean you can enforce what is agreed.
This will be an interactive course with several role-playing exercises allowing participants to try pitching and negotiating techniques as both freelancers and commissioners. If you feel uncertain or uncomfortable about pitching, negotiating and haggling, these will give you a chance to try things out in a safe, friendly and supportive environment before making use of them in your freelance business.
