An invitation from the NUJ’s Cardiff and SE Wales branch……
Former Olympic champion Lynn Davies will be among the speakers at a special NUJ-backed conference in Cardiff.
The event will take placeĀ on Saturday, October 13, 10am-4.30pm at Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Cyncoed campus.
Former Olympic champion & President of UK Athletics Lynn Davies will participate in the morning session. In the afternoon, Professor Laura McAllister, Chair of Sport Wales and former Welsh women’s football international, will contribute towards what we hope will be a significant public occasion.
Coverage of the Olympics and Paralympics in Wales
Its aim is to discuss the impact of this summer’s Olympic & Paralympic Games, their legacy and what benefits, if any, Wales will derive from them, along with the way both events were covered by the Welsh media.
The NUJ’s Cardiff & SE Wales branch, the event’s originators, in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University’s School of Sport have invited several other prominent Welsh sports people, including recent Olympic & Paralympic participants.
We believe there will be considerable interest in this event, which we’re aiming to stage early in the new academic year in order to maximise the potential audience among journalism and sports science students and while the Games themselves are still fresh in people’s memories.
NUJ members are also invited to attend the free conference between 10am-4.30pm, which will feature four sessions with a Q&A element, opening & closing remarks and an informal working lunch.
